The Lilac Tree holds most of our Individual Information Sessions and Support Groups at our staff office (map below).

Some of our Individual Information Sessions and Support Groups are held at other locations.

The Lilac Tree staff office is separate from the site of our Workshops. Most of our Workshops are held at the Evanston Public Library. If you are coming to the Evanston Public Library for a Workshop, please see Directions to Workshops.

THE LILAC TREE STAFF OFFICE LOCATION
The Lilac Tree staff office is located at 1123 Emerson Street, Suite 215, Evanston, Illinois. Evanston is the first town north of Chicago on Lake Michigan’s shore. We are within a few blocks of Northwestern University campus.

Our office is on the second floor of a small two-story brick mall building at the corner of Emerson Street and Ridge Avenue. The building is east across the street from the Metra train overpass at Emerson Street and Green Bay Road. Easy-to-see stores in the mall are Subway, Planet Earth, Signs One and Siam Splendour Restaurant.

Entry to the building is through the 1123 Office Suite Entrance door next to Siam Splendour Restaurant. In the lobby, locate The Lilac Tree listing on the directory and press our button to be buzzed in. Take the elevator to the second floor. Turn right, then right, then right again to Suite 215. LILAC TREE STAFF OFFICE DIRECTIONS

FROM CHICAGO:
Kennedy Expressway I-90 West to Edens Expressway I-94 West toward Milwaukee - Exit I-94 at 37B Dempster Street East and go approximately 4 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

Alternative:

N. Lake Shore Drive/ US 41 North - Exit the Drive by turning right at Sheridan Road. Go I mile to Devon Avenue at the Loyola University campus, following traffic to the left. Go approximately I mile to Ridge Avenue. Go right on Ridge Avenue. Go 3.8 miles to Emerson Street (train overpass). Do not fork left as you approach this train overpass – go under it. Go through the light at Emerson Street and turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

From North:
Edens Expressway 1-94 East - Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go approximately 4 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

Alternatives:

Tri-State Tollway I-294 South - Exit at Golf Road/I-58. Go left at River Road and immediately left at Golf Road (Golf Road becomes Emerson Street) and go approximately 9 miles to Ridge Avenue (at the train overpass). Go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

Edens Expressway 1-94 East - Exit at 34A Skokie Road/US 41. Go 2 miles to Golf Road. Go left at Golf Road (Golf Road becomes Emerson Street). Go 3 miles to Ridge Avenue (at the train overpass). Go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

Sheridan Road south - We are 1.5 miles south of the Baha’i Temple and Wilmette Harbor and 1 mile south of Evanston Hospital. Follow Sheridan Road south through Wilmette into Evanston. At Isabella Street, do not turn left toward the Northwestern University campus – instead, go straight through the traffic light and go approximately 1.25 miles to Emerson Street. Go left at Emerson and immediately prepare to turn left to enter the mall parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Waukegan Road (north or south) - Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go 5.5 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

Green Bay Road south – Green Bay Road becomes Ridge Avenue at Emerson Street. On Green Bay Road, 1 block north of Emerson Street, make the right fork turn onto Asbury Avenue at the Mobil gas station. Go 1 block to Emerson Street and turn left. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) to Ridge Avenue. Go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

From West:
From Kennedy Expressway I-90, take Tri-State Tollway I-294 toward Wisconsin - Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go 9 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

Alternative:

Golf Road East – Golf Road becomes Emerson Street at McCormick Blvd. (at a distance of approximately 4 miles east of Edens Expressway I-94). From Emerson Street and McCormick Blvd., continue east on Emerson Street approximately 1 mile to Ridge Avenue (at the train overpass). Go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

From Southwest:
From the Eisenhower Expressway I-290 via Kennedy Expressway I-90 West to Edens Expressway 1-94 West - Exit I-94 at 37B Dempster Street East and go approximately 4 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

From I-88 or from I-55 take Tri-State Tollway I-294 toward Wisconsin - Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go 9 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free..

From South:
Tri-State Tollway I-294 north toward Wisconsin - Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go 9 miles to Asbury Avenue. Go left at Asbury Avenue. Go 7 blocks and go right at Emerson Street. Go 2 blocks (under the train overpass) and go left at Ridge Avenue. Turn right into the mall parking lot. Parking is free.

From Indiana:
Take I-90 or I-80/94 to I-94 northbound through Chicago, and then follow the directions above “From Chicago.”

Getting to The Lilac Tree by Metra Train and EL Train:
The Lilac Tree is located 6 blocks northwest of the Davis Street EL station on the Purple Line. Go north on Benson Avenue to Church Street. Go left at Church Street and go 1 block to Maple Avenue. Go right at Maple Avenue and go 3 blocks to Emerson Street. Go left at Emerson. Go 1 block on Emerson. The Lilac Tree is located 4 blocks northwest of the Davis Street Metra Union Pacific North Line station. Go 3 blocks north on Maple Avenue to Emerson Street. Go left at Emerson.
